Of What If’s and the I AM — A Prayer

I, I am he who comforts you;
who are you that you are afraid of man who dies,
of the son of man who is made like grass,
and have forgotten the LORD,
your Maker,
who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth,
and you fear continually all the day
because of the wrath of the oppressor,
when he sets himself to destroy?
And where is the wrath of the oppressor?
Isaiah 51:12-13

“Father, LORD of Hosts,
how hard it is not to look at the oppressor. How difficult not to think on the the “What -Ifs” of this life.

Help your people find strength …

Not in moving toward the opposition with worldly weapons
but seek victory in submission to you and prayer

Not in fear of what might happen
but in the confidence of you, our God

Not in worry about tomorrow
but in the assurance of all your promises for today

Not in the taking on the Enemy with the weapons of this world
but in taking our stand in your Word of Truth

Not in this world’s passing judgements
but in the security of the eternal, final Judgement

Not in defending ourselves with many words
but knowing the Word of Truth has already acquitted us.

In the name of Jesus we pray.”
