In the Balance of Light and Dark

moonset and sunrise 2.15.2014 001Sometimes circumstances come together perfectly. This morning they did for me. The full moon was setting close to the same time the sun was coming up. I grabbed the tripod and headed out into the frigid dawn.
After capturing the moon set behind a treeline outside of my house, I got in the car and headed to the lake. I knew I had about 10 minutes before the sun was coming up.
As I was driving, I witnessed this beautiful, full, reddish moon disappear in a mist on the horizon. On the opposite side, the sun was coming up, turning the sky into a beautiful orange.
I found myself in the middle of this perfect balance of light and dark.

At that moment, there in the middle of the end of the night and the beginning of a new day,
God filled my heart with awe.

He is omniscient.
He is omnipotent.
He is good.
Life is never out of His control.
Circumstances are never beyond His grasp.
We are never out of His sight.
I am never alone.

Light and darkness are fully exposed to Him.
All yesterdays and tomorrows are fully known to Him.
Time and seasons obey His command.
Mercy and justice are in perfect balance.
Grace and truth are in Him.
He is sovereign.
~
“Heavenly Father,
In Jesus Christ, You have made a way for me to be close to You.
I am in awe of Your ways.
Thank You for holding my life in Your sovereign hand,
in the middle of the night as well as in the light of day.
I know I can trust You with absolutely everything.”

and marked off the heavens with a span,
enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure
and weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?
