Solitude

cross in woods February 2014 002In solitude and lonely hour,
In friendless night and feeble power,
In desperate fight and weakness stark,
You’re in the midst of all my dark.

In tears that cloud my eyes to see,
In answers that eluded me,
In helplessness and on my knees,
You are the God who cares and sees.

In all my questions, trials, and pains,
In that which hurts, and mars, and strains,
In injured soul and damaged heart,
You move in me, set me apart.

You hold me tight and make me new.
You draw me close and pull me through.
Your whisper I can clearly hear
In solitude, “My child, I’m near!”
snowy February morning 008
O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high;
I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.
But I have calmed and quieted my soul,
like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child is my soul within me.
O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.
Psalm 131 ~ ESV
~~~
If you do not know the peace of God today, ask Him to show you.
Know that Jesus Christ died for you.
God longs to cover your sins with the sacrifice that pleased Him, namely, the blood of His only Son.
Repent from your ways,
Trust in Him.
He will not reject a heart that longs to be in Christ.
He longs to give you His eternal peace.
  3. If I allowed, this poem would bring on the tears. Such a beautiful weaving of words, such heart-touching truth, Heidi. Thank you! I, too, have held on to Jesus in the dark. I can’t imagine life without Him–His peace being just one of His gracious gifts.
    1. I am grateful we never ever have to imagine life without the beauty of our God. It makes me think of Jesus’ words on the cross when He asked “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Can you just imagine this horrible thing he had to go through, all so we did not have to…. We are so blessed, Nancy!
