Delight and Justice

april 27th, 2013 sunrise, birds, benches 010

Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday.
(Psalm 37:4-6)

~

“Father, help me to delight in You and Your love.
Draw me with Your love.
Transform my heart and help me to love myself and others.
Break my heart for what breaks Yours.
Then, when it’s broken and longing for justice,
go before me and show me what you created me to do.
Point me to even the smallest of deeds You have me do.
Shine Your Light, even Christ Himself, through my delight in You.”

About Heidi Viars

โ€œIf you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth ...โ€ โ€• C.S. Lewis ..... In my pursuit of self, I found utter darkness. In my pursuit of truth, I found Jesus, who dispelled the darkness by His forgiveness. Now I follow Him and try to understand Him better. I am a wife, mother of 6, blogger and love taking photographs of sunrises.

    When I hear the song with those lyrics in it..”break my heart for what breaks yours” I am always moved to pray that. Truly the desire of the heart given over to the Lord.

  3. …one of my favorite passages! Thanks for sharing:)

  4. Add my hearty “amen” to your prayer, please!

    Beautiful photography. Thanks for sharing.

      Your images of God’s creation are so beautiful, Sue! So glad to have run into your blog. Thanks for sharing … and for stopping by here with your encouragement ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Thanks, Heidi. A huge compliment from someone with your talent. If on FB, join on my page because I am going to be posting different images with Scripture that won’t be on my blog. I’m hoping others will share these and spread His aroma on FB. All about Him. Blessings!

  6. Debbie says:

    Thank you for such a heartfelt prayer, Heidi . .paired with the scripture and pictures. You helped me draw closer to Him today. God bless you!

  7. Yes, I thought about that passage too. We are on the same track.

  8. Thanks Heidi. Your post and the passage caused me to look at some other verses. I was especially impress that if we trust Him He will bring forth “your” righteousness. I thought of Ephesians 6:14, where we are to put on the breastplate of righteousness. John MacAurther comments: “As believers faithfully live in obedience to and communion with Jesus Christ, His own righteousness produces in them the practical, daily righteousness that becomes their spiritual breastplate.”

    I love the way you are taking verses and nature pictures and putting a prayer to them. Great work!

    • Heidi Viars says:

      Thanks Stephen … I love it that you point us to more Scriptures. Yes, I agree that the breastplate of righteousness keeps us protected … I also have been thinking much about Isaiah 58 …
      (especially 6-12)

      6โ€œIs this not the fast which I choose,
      To loosen the bonds of wickedness,
      To undo the bands of the yoke,
      And to let the oppressed go free
      And break every yoke?
      7 โ€œIs it not to divide your bread with the hungry
      And bring the homeless poor into the house;
      When you see the naked, to cover him;
      And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
      8 โ€œThen your light will break out like the dawn,
      And your recovery will speedily spring forth;
      And your righteousness will go before you;
      The glory of the Lord will be your rear guard.
      9 โ€œThen you will call, and the Lord will answer;
      You will cry, and He will say, โ€˜Here I am.โ€™
      If you remove the yoke from your midst,
      The pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness,
      10 And if you give yourself to the hungry
      And satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
      Then your light will rise in darkness
      And your gloom will become like midday.
      11 โ€œAnd the Lord will continually guide you,
      And satisfy your desire in scorched places,
      And give strength to your bones;
      And you will be like a watered garden,
      And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
      12 โ€œThose from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins;
      You will raise up the age-old foundations;
      And you will be called the repairer of the breach,
      The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.

      When we delight in Him, we see His heart and can’t help but care for those things He mentions here … the best verse, in my opinion is verse 10 “… and your gloom will become like midday”

      Sorry, Stephen, for this long reply … you got me thinking and I appreciate that ๐Ÿ™‚

      Blessings to you today!

  9. Heidi, your pictures are breathtaking, and your words echo his desire for us perfectly!

    Blessings ~ Wendy

    • Heidi Viars says:

      Dear Wendy, I took those pictures yesterday morning. As I drove to my usual walking spot, I had to stop the car when I saw the birds. It was almost as if they were sitting and enjoying the beauty of this moment ๐Ÿ™‚ … It made me think … somewhere in the world there is a sunrise each moment of the day … and a sunset … and a starlit night-sky… and a beautiful rainstorm … and … and … and … He is an amazing God and made us in His image to enjoy these moments He created for us … pretty cool!
