In the Beginning

Humans were not the first ones to string lights.
It was the Maker Himself.
Before man was able to see and feel God’s love, He decorated the heavens and sent glimpses of His creativity into the World.
Ethereal, eternal truths – God brought them to earth.
He thought man worthy to consider heaven.

But darkness captured the heart and mind of man,

Turned original intent upside down.

The darkness lied to man –

and man believed.

So the Light Himself came into the world.

Light considered man’s darkness.

If man didn’t want to consider light and  life …

Then God would consider darkness and death.

The Light overcame death and darkness.
He gave those who believed in His Light the right to become children of the Light.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of graceand truth.”

  2. Beautiful and creative photographs Heidi! What you wrote is a blessed truth and reminded me of Psalm 139:11-12: If I say, Surely the darkness will cover me, and the night will be the only light around me, even the darkness is not dark to You and conceals nothing from You, but the night shines as bright as the day; darkness and light are alike to You.
It’s awesome to be children of the Light! In the New Year, may we be bright lights in the darkest places and always remember to give all the glory and praise to the Creator of all light!

    1. How right you are about being children of the Light. When I think about my life before I met the Lord, I can hardly believe that I would have walked in that darkness and couldn’t see it. Let’s pray, dear friend, to shine as bright as we can so many can see the Light. Sending hugs your way 🙂

  5. Feeling enveloped in darkness these days. I thank you for reminding me there is no darkness when enveloped in God’s light. It’s all a matter of where I sit.

    1. I took some of those pictures yesterday while sitting in the weeds. I tent to occupy the lesser places. But He always meets me there, too 🙂
Sending love your way, dear friend!

  6. Heidi, your articulation of God our light and life is powerful. I’m especially taken by these words: “Before man was able to see and feel God’s love, He decorated the heavens and sent glimpses of His creativity into the World.
Ethereal, eternal truths – God brought them to earth.” Blessings friend as we head into 2020!
