Spirit of God

img_1205“Like the wind I cannot see,
Like the gust of air I feel,
Become the breath inside of me,

Oh, Spirit of God.

Like a fire in a hearth,
Like a flame comes from spark,
Set me ablaze – set me apart,

Oh, Spirit of God.

Like a lighthouse in the night,
Like the dawning sun brings sight,
Be my compass be my guide,

Oh, Spirit of God.

Let my heart no longer doze,
In what I think nor what I sow,
But freely through You make Christ known,

Oh, Spirit of God.”

“The Spirit of God has made me,
And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”
Job 33:4

  1. Once again, Heidi, you center us on God and our desire to live for him–in just a few short verses–and your prayer becomes our prayer. Thank you for the heartfelt, inspiring beauty of your words.

  2. Beautiful poem and photos. The first shot makes me feel like I am right there.

    1. Thanks for stopping in, dear Patti!

  3. Dear Heidi, Thank you so much for continuing to use the gift of writing that God has given you. This poem, I read as my prayer today as the tears were coming…. I’m going through another storm in my life with our 40 yr. old daughter and what you wrote became my prayer today. Wayward children have the ability to crush your heart and cause you to think that it’s never going to change. But, I know my Redeemer lives and I refuse to let Satan convince me of that. In my heart I know that the effectual fervent prayer of a person availeth much. With you as my witness I take this stand upon the Rock that never crumbles or cannot be destroyed and choose to believe that He will answer my many prayers. In the love of Christ. Jacquie

    1. Dear Jacquie, thanks for sharing your heart here. I know that those who read (including me) will pray along with you. The Holy Spirit will guide you in your prayers and will give you the manifold wisdom of God in your time of need. I pray you stay encouraged and close to Jesus. In Him, Heidi

  4. Thank you, dear Heidi, for helping me to re-focus as I begin today. Giving thanks . . . .

    1. Thank you for your encouragement, dear Kathie

  5. Dear Heidi . . .I cried through this. Feel like God orchestrated it for me. It corresponded with the sermon I heard today and also with what He had been speaking to me for weeks, and all from different scriptures. Thank you so much for heeding His call and posting this!

    1. Our Pastor is taking us through the book of Acts, verse by verse. This was my response to today’s sermon. Thank you, dearest Debbie, for always encouraging me here. Let’s pray His fire will move and grow in us and His Church.
