Words Galore

Your words are as endless as sand on a shore,
Strung together in books
And in blogs galore.

You speak them with vigor and zeal the same
As if you’re vying for spots
In Christendom’s fame

Your words sit on tables and nightstands – piled high
Proclaiming your wisdom
Your thoughts and advice.

I sometimes don’t know what you’re saying to me.
I don’t understand –
I don’t go that deep.

But what I know is this simple fact:
Your words matter little
It is how you act.

For your light shines brightest when your neighbor sees
What God is like
By Your conduct and deeds.

~

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16

“Lord, continue to show me how to shine Your Light, namely Jesus Christ,
into this broken world.
Father, I need You to embolden me
so that in courage and surrender I may live for You.
Help me to speak of Your gentleness with my hands,
proclaim Your faithfulness in my service of others,
and make Your love known in my dutiful work.
Help not to complain about the menial opportunities
which point others to Your kindness.
Lord, let others not be interested in what I have to say,
but help me point them to what Your Word has already spoken.”
Help me not to make a name for myself,
but make Your name great.”

This is my favorite line, Heidi.

Thank you, Bill, for coming by my place and leaving your words of encouragement! Your blog often makes it into conversations I have with others. You are sowing the seed of God’s Word in more places that you realize 🙂 Be blessed, dear brother!

Good reminder! One of the things I am beginning to observe in my new journey is the difference between how Christians, namely religious church people, versus irreligious people and Christians judge whether or not a person reflects God, and I am reminded of how the religious leaders judged Jesus… not that I can compare myself to Jesus, except where God has worked in my life to mold me into His image. It is definitely not of me! [chuckle] But if I can help ‘the world’ to see that a person doesn’t have to be religious and perfect to be accepted and loved by God, then that matters more to me than pleasing and being accepted by religious Christians.

Thanks, Rene, for those wise words. About a year ago, I started to pray with a close friend for revival daily. We are in dire need of the Holy Spirit to work in us and in the people around us. I am grateful God is patient and not finished with us 🙂 Blessings to you, dear sister

A friend pointed out to me that sometimes our witness is with words and sometimes with verbs. Oh the power of deeds done in Jesus’s love!

Oh Heidi, thank you again for your beautiful poem! I can see very clearly how God is molding you so you look and act etc. just like Him. He is doing a marvelous work in you day by day! Just keep holding fast to His word and ask Him for discernment so you’ll know not to believe the lies of the enemy. AndI simply loved your prayer at the end–sister I agree with you 100 percent every word that you prayed! Love Jacquie

Amen. I really liked these two thoughts in your prayer: “courage and surrender” and “Help me to not make a name for myself, but make Your name great.” Yes! Loved the poem and pictures, too! His love makes us brave and shows the world what He’s like. Blessings.

This poem has been stirring in my heart for a long time. I imagined my kids saying those words to me. I have children with special needs who can not jump around the “deep waters” with me. God continually reminds me that His love is simple, quiet, worked out in the secret of my closet. He makes our hearts love, in Jesus, when it seems impossible for us to do so. Then, when He has stirred our hearts and softened them with His own love, He does what is utterly impossible.
Thank you, for continuing to love at your place! Thank you for making Christ known and in that making your reader understand that they are fully known and completely loved by their Father.
      Blessings returned!

We serve such a beautiful God, Liana!
He is able when we are not.
He will guide the seeking heart.
He will give the love we need.
He will grow a faith-filled seed.
(ok, that was weird … it just came out!)
Sending you much love, sweet blogging friend!
