The Promise
God promised me a Filling Pow’r
His Helper gave to me.
But I, instead of living filled,
live empty, in defeat.
~
God gifted me the Holy Ghost
Through Jesus’ sacrifice.
Instead of living in His strength
I struggle and I fight.
~
God purposed truth and peace for me.
His Comforter to know.
His wisdom and His knowledge vast
Will show me where to go.
~
God’s Holy Promise is my Seal.
No earthly force can stand.
No power of hell can harm my soul,
If under His command.
~
So in my journey through this world,
Through valley’s dark and long,
I trust my unseen Promised Help.
He’ll safely lead me home.
~
“Father, help me to know that You have not abandoned me.
In every step I take, remind me that You have given me
Your power in the Holy Spirit.
Teach me Your wisdom and knowledge.
Make me bold in the Holy Spirit to
walk in ways I would never dare to walk alone.”

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper,
to be with you forever,
even the Spirit of truth,
whom the world cannot receive,
because it neither sees him nor knows him.
You know him,
for he dwells with you and will be in you.“
John 14:15-17 (ESV) ~

Constant reminders of God’s abundant blessings keep our souls refreshed. When those reminders come to us with beauty and power, as in your poem, Heidi, the refreshing is all the sweeter. Thank you for your creative, encouraging words!

Your words of encouragement mean so much to me. I know we don’t live for the “praise of man”, but for some reason God thought it of value to spur one another one! You do that for me, dear sister! Blessing to you as you follow the Spirit’s leading in your life!

Once again your images are beautiful and your prose inspiring. The silhouettes and warm sunlight are so strong, yet like your poem, there is a comforting tone as well.
I find that I have more difficulty staying strong and comforted when someone I love is being afflicted, experiencing a cycle of moving forward and having setbacks not a result of sin or unwise choices. But then I remember God’s faithfulness and wisdom and am comforted and strengthened, knowing He is working all things for good, not only for my family and me, but also for the world. It also helps when the someone I love also finds strength and comfort in Him.

I agree with you, Rene. It’s so difficult to remember that there is a big picture. I forget that I am here for Him and not myself, a stepping stone for His purpose and others to see. If we could get but a glimpse of Heaven, I think we would understand so much more. This verse comes to mind:
“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,”
(2 Corinthians 4:17 ESV)
Thank you so much for your always encouraging words, and pointing me to Jesus 🙂

Thank you for your inspirations and reminders… and the verse. Although I don’t always feel as solid as iron, I guess we are like the verse that says, “Iron sharpens iron.” (Proverbs 27:17) ((hugs))
