Feed Your Faith

beautiful sunrise, fox, deer, March 2014 013Faith is like a certain provision we take along on our road of deeds.
Faith feeds our courage to step out.
Faith knows that raging waves submit under the Master’s feet,
and understands that rushing waters
part with a Word of Christ’s command.
Faith is not needed for that which we can do ourselves,
But for the impossible!

beautiful sunrise, fox, deer, March 2014 010How would I know that you are my Light,
If I’d never seen darkness, but all had been bright?
How would I know that you are my peace,
If I’d never been scared, but all wars had ceased?
How would I know that you are my hope,
If I’d never despaired, and all gloom had eloped?
How would I know that you are my calm,
If I’d never felt strife, and my worries were gone?
How would I know to put faith in You
If I’d only been challenged with the things I could do?

boys, sunrise in March 013That your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men
but in the power of God.

  2. Heidi, I really love and appreciate the encouragement in this poem. It tells me that I’m in a good place if I think I can’t do this walk but for the grace of God. He enables us to do the seemingly impossible-that’s a faith fact to focus on. Thanks for reminding us.

  9. Gorgeous images and wonderful poem! Amen! Sometimes when people ask for advice about decision-making, I advise them that God has given us responsibility, so we need to do what we can do, seek the Lord, and let God do what only He can do. He has always been so faithful and gracious, like a Father that says, “Jump, I will catch you,” or like a Father who rescues when we try to step out without Him. 😀
