Living and Looking into Surrender

This year I am doing it differently! No more resolutions. Instead I have decided to follow a movement (My One Word) that has spread throughout the country, of choosing a word for the year and living into it.

I prayed about this process and asked God to reveal to me which word He would have for me. In January, during a one of my walks, the Lord did reveal a word to me. It was the word SURRENDER  (You can read about this encounter at a post entitled The Word for the Year on the Road Less Traveled)

Yesterday, I looked at the word more closely and I realized that U and END are hidden within it. Yes, I END when I surrender my life to Christ. I become more like Him… less like me. I live less for my own but seek to understand His life better.

Jesus said He is the True Vine. By being connected to Him, we thrive no matter the circumstances. If we are willing to surrender, stay connected to Him, and trust an all-knowing God with our lives, He will not fail us. He will bring fruit through us. He will abide in us.

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. (John 15:1-7)

    1. Thank you Wendy, you bless me with your encouragement … What a marvelous God we serve. We can fully trust Him as the Vinedresser to cut away the dead branches of our lives. When I was thinking on surrender and what that means in light of John 15:1-7, I felt Him speak these words across my heart, “Where U END, I start” … blessings to you, friend!
