Determination

Peliated Woodpecker, November 25th, 2012, Woods Green Lake

On an early morning walk, my husband and I came across a Pileated Woodpecker.

The bird was hammering away at its food on a tree along our path.

I stood amazed at the bird’s zeal to go after what he was looking for. I also marveled at God’s creativity. The woodpecker’s tongue is actually three times larger than it’s beak and wraps around its brain. God in His sovereign wisdom, created the bird with a unique way to protect its brain from injury.

Father,

make me this determined.

Make me zealous for your work,

all along trusting your sovereign hand of protection.

Let me know what you think
