It’s Puzzling to Me

Published by

As I prayed, staring out into the cold day, my eyes fell on the tiny water droplets on the window, first frozen then melted condensation. My heart is unable to fathom His goodness and imagine His love – Yet, I am forced to try and put Him into my failing words.

In frost and winter’s depth of ice
You force displays in snow.
Your power found in frozen vice
Then melts, so grace can flow.

I cannot fathom all You are,
While billion lights display,
Reflecting beams from Light afar –
Yet pierce my heart that strays.

It puzzles me – How can You speak,
Make all that moves stand still,
Then gently break – make my heart weak
To tell me of Your will?

And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you.
And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
Ezekiel 36-26

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish,
neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

    Hi Heidi
Such a wonderful gift our Heavenly Father has given you to put in words how awesome He is through helping us see Him in His creation of water droplets 💦 on the glass of a window🪟.

Oh Heidi, I understand the difficulty of having a heart-to-heart encounter with the Spirit of God Almighty and then try as hard as you can to put the human explanation down on a mere piece of paper!! I love your poem here, when you talk of your heart made weak by His calm but star-shattering presence!! I know of what you speak. I’ve been there, in His chambers, then leaving with the echo of His heartbeat in my spirit!! I suffer with chronic pain, but even just one life-giving encounter with this indescribable Entity, would make it all worthwhile!! And I can’t say anything more here because the words I’d need to tell more of Him, just escape the honest telling of His holiness………..

Thank you so much, my dear friend… your words echo my heart … and yes, it will be all worth it in the end when our spirits are able to fathom all of His. While on earth, let’s keep trying to show the world what a beautiful and amazing God He is … we will keep trying 🙂 Blessings to you as you do.

Beautiful photography to compliment your poem. Hallelujah! He removes our heart of stone replacing it with a heart of flesh. Then the Light of Jesus is refracted through our brokenness to the world. That is amazing grace.

Thank you, Heidi, for this dose of encouragement. Those images of ice crystals-become-tiny-puddles speak hope! You’ve reminded me of a friend who came to Jesus in her late twenties. In looking back over her previous life before Christ, she could see moments when God was softening her hardened heart in preparation for her Salvation Day. I take great hope in that for loved ones who don’t know Jesus; my prayers often include the gist of Ezekiel 36:26-27.

Our frozen vices are melted by God’s grace. Amen, Heidi. Yours is an excellent winter poem that points to the frozen nature of our heart apart from Christ. It’s a good thing our awesome God is also a good God. Like it says somewhere in the Psalms: “Lord, if you kept a record of sins who could stand?”

    Great photos as well! Blessings.
