Abide – My WORD(s)

To this ONE WORD I want to cleave
It is the Word “ABIDE”
My foolish ways I want to leave;
In Jesus want to hide.

But I must know the Devil’s lies;
They say “Trapped!” not “Abiding”
There in the upside-down he tries
To turn “Leave” to “backsliding”.

“Abide in me, and I in you.
As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself,
unless it abides in the vine,
neither can you, unless you abide in me.”
John 15:4

About Heidi Viars

“If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth ...” ― C.S. Lewis ..... In my pursuit of self, I found utter darkness. In my pursuit of truth, I found Jesus, who dispelled the darkness by His forgiveness. Now I follow Him and try to understand Him better. I am a wife, mother of 6, blogger and love taking photographs of sunrises.

  1. Nancy Ruegg says:

    The devil’s “upside-down” caught my attention too. He IS cunning that way–making truth look false and God’s ways look like foolishness. Only by abiding in Jesus and following his commands (John 15:9-12) can we experience the abundant life he offers. (Lord, keep me mindful!)

  2. Brenda Lynn says:

    The enemy- “the upside-down”. YES! Exactly! But I’m right there with you, learning to abide in truth with Him.

  3. Simple, uncluttered truth to begin the week . . . thank you Heidi!

  4. Debbie says:

    Thank,you for this word, dear Heidi! Abide it is! Blessings and love!
