A Disciple’s Empty Hands

Published by

Again, we find ourselves staring at endless needs. Here in the deep waters and floods of pain, we learn to say yes to Jesus and to one another. He takes our small yeses, one at a time, and blesses in ways we could never imagine.
If you are a follower, pupil, and learner, a disciple of Jesus Christ, ask Him what He desires of you today, He will show you!

I lift to You these hands of mine.

They’re empty cold and weak.

Please fill them with Your love divine,

Touch those who are in need.

They cannot work without You, Lord,

Alone can’t make a dent

In all the hurt this world affords –

Nor pain and sorrow end.

Help me to pour what’s in my hand

Before Your throne of love,

Cause there the smallest deed will stand

Will point to You, my God.

“A new commandment I give to you,
that you love one another:
just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.

By this all people will know that you are my disciples,
if you have love for one another.”
John 13:34-35

Beautiful images and prayerful poem! My desire, too, is that as He fills me and I pour His love out, eyes would be opened to see the Source and what is true.

Beautiful pictures, prose, and poetry, dear Heidi. It’s comforting to remember God can take our feeble efforts and multiply them with His power and love. I needed this–thank you. ❤

So so blessed to be here with you , looking to Jesus , again! Thank you for sharing what He puts on your heart to share, for writing what He puts into your heart and hands to write, for giving Him witness and glory for everything. Praying with you as the needs seem endless, to do the things He asks me to, no matter how small it is in my eyes. A little, poem came to me this morning . . .

    Apart from Me
    you can do nothing
    of eternal
    value

    so My desire
    is that you learn
    to depend on Me
    and My truth.

So good, Heidi. I know you are a talented writer, but the Holy Spirit just used your “empty hands” to write these words.
So glad that you are back from your summer break.

I agree, Bill … what could we even hold up to an omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent and loving Creator anyways? Grateful for you and Mary
