Hushed pain draws near –
No tears to weep.
To cope with fear
Her knife cuts deep.

A violent mind –
A tragic choice –
With flesh maligned
He took her voice.

In a dark hole,
In anguish lie
Her youthful soul
And childhood smiles.

Please pray for her
To seek the Light,
To find the Truth,
End cutting nights.

One day she’ll sing,
Then mourning ends,
As Christ the King,
Her wounds attends.

Until that day
Please help her cope.
Don’t look away,
Speak Life and Hope.

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
Isaiah 61:1

This is powerful and poignant, dear Heidi. I think we all know someone who has–or is–cutting. But Jesus. ❤ He saves.

Such a beautiful prayer, Heidi. I, too, pray for this girl–that she will reach out to Jesus for help, and discover he is the way, the truth, and the life. I can see her singing to her Savior, arms outstretched and face aglow. (I hope I interpreted your poetry rightly. Sometimes I can totally miss the obvious!!)

  There is such hope in Christ. So often girls think that their pasts are unredeemable and too unclean. They give up hope that they would ever be good enough for anyone. Many turn to cutting and try to find a release for their pain.
  A while ago a young woman reached out to me. I had mentored her many years prior. We had lost touch. Back then I had spoken strong Scriptural truths into her life, which she often met with doubt.
  She recently married and found that God is a God of new beginnings. He can purify us and heal the places that seem impossible to heal.
  What an amazing God we serve. Let’s keep praying Nancy, that you and I pass this on to the next generation … too much might be lost if we don’t.
  (Are you familiar with Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth? She wrote a new book “Adorned” … I think you might really like it)
