IMG_2434My laundry line had been staring at me through my kitchen window. The sight of it made me feel guilty for not using it more and my dryer less. While I love the smell of laundry that has been hung out to dry, I don’t like the work that comes with it, especially with all the loads I do.

A few days ago I had an idea; I replaced the laundry lines with bird feeders.

IMG_2450Since then, a variety of birds have been finding their way in
and have replaced my guilt with delight.

IMG_2423I have been wondering, if that’s how God sees our lives as well?

Often we fail to live out our calling.
We miss opportunities, choose the wrong paths,
run too far ahead or fall too far behind.

He is able to use us despite our greatest failures.
Nothing we do, or fail to do, can mess up His plans,
Nor stop Him from loving us.

“Lord, use us despite of us.
Instead of letting guilt and shame define us,
show us a new and pleasing way.
Help us not to doubt Your Love.
You are our Creator.
You always know how to use what we have.
Lord, help us in our weakness to point others to Your Son,
Jesus Christ and His Love.”

but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.

  1. Love the idea and analogy! What a blessing!

  2. This is wonderful, Heidi. I can relate to the dryer dilemma. I only hang selective loads on my line now. Love your photos and the reminder to trust God to work in and through me despite my fears and failures.
    Blessings ~ Wendy

  3. I was drawn to the picture with the bird seemingly inside a cage and your comment about if God sees us the same way. When we surrender to God, that “cage” becomes God’s personal hedge of protection around us! We feel safety in His refuge rather than confined.

    1. What a great analogy! Yes, He keeps us safe! His boundaries are our freedom! Thanks for taking the time to read and for commenting, Debbie

  4. Dear Heidi, My you are a creative person. I love what you say about how God can work in our lives in spite of the messes we can make. Romans 8: 28 right? 2 Timothy 2: 13 is a verse I love…..If I am faithless, He remains faithful for He cannot deny Himself. Love Jacquie

    1. What encouraging Scriptures, dear Jacquie! Yes, He always remains faithful … and never changes 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

  5. “Nothing we do, or fail to do, can mess up His plans.” What a relief to know that our sovereign God can fix mistakes, reverse our failures, and clean up any messes! Thank you, Heidi, for the blessed assurances you highlighted today.

    1. Thank you for encouraging my heart, dear Nancy. Your comments are a blessing to me.

  6. Ha! Cool. We converted our old clothes line poles to hummingbird feeders. They love it! Great post. God’s all about re-purposing! Blessings.

    1. Thanks Mel, for your always kind words. I would still be in the deepest pit, had He not re-purposed my mess and shown me Jesus Christ! What grace, what love, what a beautiful God:-)
