The alarm was set and my walking shoes were waiting. I had every intention of heading out early to see the sunrise. However, I did not wake up so soft music but to furious lighting and thunder. Instead of walking, I sat down and penned a poem. I pray it blesses you.
Despite the Storms
Though all around me shakes and shouts,
Though torrents beat against my house,
Though I can’t find a safe way out,
My Father’s there, despite my doubt.
Though I don’t see far past today,
Though I can’t tell who goes – what stays,
Though my tomorrows might give way,
My Father’s hand is strong and safe.
Though often I fail heeding calls,
Though when I walk, I sometimes fall,
Though when I run I hit the wall,
Christ is my fortress, strong and tall.
Though never touched I shielding wings.
Though never heard the songs He sings,
Though never been before a King,
My Savior good to me will bring.
My Lord, my Shepherd, King and Friend,
Provides for me to heaven’s end.
His plans are safe and will not bend.
Though I His ways can’t comprehend.
And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?” ~Matthew 8:23-27 ESV
