Courageous Waiting

Published by

january 4th, 2013 012I wait for plane, and bus, and train,
I wait in sunshine, snow, and rain.
I wait for kids and husband, too.
Sometimes until my face turns blue.

I wait in grocery stores a lot.
I wait for perfect parking spots.
Sometimes I wait with patient smiles
While people push through narrow aisles.

Sometimes I wait in quiet calm,
And sometimes with a sweaty palm.
In all my wait I found out this,
That life is all a waiting bliss.

And while I wait for waits to end –
To finally see my Lord, my friend –
I read His Word that says to me
To wait for Him courageously.
~~~
Wait for the Lord;
Be strong and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord.
Psalm 27:14(NASB)
    I’m so encouraged by this! Waiting can be so hard, but what a beautiful reminder of who we’re waiting for! I’m excited just thinking about that glorious day when I finally see my Savior! God bless you, sister!
      I agree, waiting is hard. But God is faithful … “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” … even in the waiting 🙂 Blessings to you, sister!
    Makes me think of Habakkuk and his waiting….”though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay”. It’s hard to wait on God’s timing but also wonderful to know His timing is perfect.
      Thanks Liz for visiting. While the verse you mentioned speaks about the impending judgement, in waiting for it, we can make sure we spread the Good News about Jesus and how He saves from the wrath of God. Great thought! Blessings to you in your waiting!
      You are right, waiting is often so very burdensome. We often just don’t see the sense in it … however, sometimes God allows us to get glimpses of His plans … which are always good! … Blessings to you, Kathie
    I love this poem, it is so spot on. I too anxiously await our Lord and Savior to answer my prayers, I am finding the lesson of patience is what he is teaching me much to my dislike. His plan and purpose is what will be.
    I have a feeling in reading this that you wait a lot for people in your family–to serve them. And in your business too. Are you patient in waiting? Thinking about it for myself, I am getting impatient with the Lord for what I want to do in ministry. He seems to be dragging His feet. But then, maybe I am not listening to what He is telling me to do. I’m not sure that my idea’s are His ideas. Hey thanks for this good post.
      Currently, we are finding ourselves on the waiting end of an adoption process. I always thought God would take our willingness and bless it, IMMEDIATELY. I am finding how prideful I am at times thinking God is in need of anything I have. He is much more interested in my heart than in any service I might be able to offer Him. He wants to produce a patient, unconditional love in me… and I think many times waiting is the honing device in His hand to produce it 🙂 Thanks for your visit, Stephen!
        You are right. God doesn’t really need us. But He wants our wailing heart. I will pray for you in this adoption process. Sound exciting.
