Even if we baked all the cookies perfectly,
Even if we were able to capture the perfect family photo,
Even if our houses were the brightest in the neighborhood,
Even if we could send the perfect gift to all our loved ones,
Even if our children never messed up their lines in the Christmas play,
Even if husbands remembered what wives told them to buy,
And even if the snow covered all the grey and dreariness,
We still would find our hearts longing.
While here, we can only catch glimpses of home…
We are not home yet.
