Sovereign Father
In arrogance and pride I sometimes assume that if I work hard enough, I can persuade You to keep pain away.
I try to bribe You with my good works to receive ease and happiness.
Father, I confess to You that I do not trust You enough with hurt and pain.
Please forgive me for trying to ignore the paths of suffering.
Please help me to give You thanks in all things.
You are sovereign and good, no matter how painful life is.
Strengthen me in pain and discomfort.
Help me to look more like Christ each day.
He did not avoid suffering, but endured it willingly for Your greater cause.
I love You and thank You for being so patient with me.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
