An Imago Dei Prayer
“Lord you have made me in your image when it comes to justice. Remind me that ultimately you are the Only Just One. Teach my heart not to grow cynical, bitter, or angry when things don’t turn out the way I hoped. Teach me to submit my life continually to Christ.”

Hello Heidi. This is absolutely beautiful. The spirit really moved today to have me read this and be spurred on to better things. I was in a bad spot before I read this post. Thank you.

Congratulations on your victory, Heidi. My “tiger” (challenge) this year is the fact that I am not walking well – due to get a new hip after Christmas. I can’t put up all the decorations and outdoor lights I usually do, but then I always overdo it, so that might be the point. Our porch and front door are still decorated for Thanksgiving. It may be a different kind of Christmas this year, but that’s OK. So far, shedding my obsession hasn’t been difficult. A good opportunity to focus on the meaning of the Incarnation. ❤

Beautiful, Heidi. A great reminder the “tiger” is not so fierce next to Christ.

Perfect imagery, Heidi–that tiger by the manger. In the last photo he actually looks worshipful! I’m reminded of Philippians 2:10-11. Even the tigers that once wielded great power and dominance will bow the knee to Christ!

Dear Nancy, that was the verse I thought of originally!! Thanks for your comment! Something about great minds and thinking alike :-))

You and I have done that before! Great fun, and makes me smile.

I’m not quite sure what you meant by the tiger–something you are afraid of I suppose. I have a lot of fears and bad dreams these days. But they are quite manageable next to Jesus. He will tame that tiger!

Ah, the tiger. I think he lays down beside the lamb. It’s the only place to bring him. (And love your Imago Dei prayer at the end.)

Oh Heidi, you’ve nailed it once again. It’s so much easier to hide and to pretend, but at Christmas the scabs of the tiger often become open wounds again. Thank you for reminding me of their purpose. Like David said in a previous comment: more please. ❤️

I read Isaiah 9:6-7 today, from the pulpit at my church, and I got fairly emotional while doing so. I refuse to read the Word of God like I’m scanning the back of a cereal box.

Tigers 🐅 occasionally come looking and lurking for me , too. They are certainly ambush predators. I saw a neat neck guard that farmers in India wear. It buckles over one’s shoulders and keeps tigers from biting in their favorite place. Apparently, they almost always bite the neck of their prey.
I wonder what the spiritual equivalent of this is? Scripture memorization and prayer and Christian fellowship?
Thought provoking post, as always, Heidi. Please share more often !
