About

My name is Heidi Viars. I have been married for thirty two years to an incredibly gracious and kind man. Together we parent 6 amazing individuals.
I love to spend time with God, with people, and in nature.
Here in the woods, by the lake, in an early sunrise, or sunset, God reveals so much of Himself. Pondering and questioning seem to come naturally here, in creation. This blog reflects much of what I experience outside on my walks and what God reveals to my heart as I walk with Him through life – as I take a closer look at the world around me.

I met Jesus Christ for the first time over twenty years ago, on a path that was mostly dark. I had been blind to that darkness until I had reached the end of my road. There I sat in my home alone, planning to end my life.
God did not allow for my plans to succeed but instead shone His Light into the darkest day of my life. One day at a time, He revealed Truth to me from His Word, the Bible. He told me that He had came to die for my sins and that I needed to trust Him to take care of my sins. He opened my eyes to the darkness and the fact that He was rescuing me from it. (“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,Β in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:13). Since then, I have found Jesus to be more than I could have ever imagined. He is the Light of my day and what drives me to live.
Might God be trying to speak to you today? If you hear His voice, don’t harden your heart. Listen and trust Him. He made provisions for you as well, namely Jesus who is the Bread of Life and the Living Water. No sin is too great, that He can’t redeem it and no life too far in the pit, that He can’t reach it. He longs for you to know Him. He gave His life so you would not have to pay for the sins you committed.
But even if you have thought of yourself a good person, please consider that no one can measure up to a Holy God. Your sins, even the smallest, demand a payment. The Bible says that we all fall short of the glory of God. BUT GOD sent His Son to pay for your debt and longs for you to know this.
My prayer is that these reflections and poems will encourage you to draw nearer to the Heavenly Father. I pray that, no matter how far you feel you are from Him, you will be able to see that He is longing to show you His love. My hope is for you to sense His hand leading you, even if you are “taking the Wings of the Dawn or dwell in the remotest part of the sea”. Psalm 139
Blessings,
Heidi <><
“I have found Jesus to be more than I could have ever imagined. He is the Light of my day and what drives me to live.” His grace now shines bright through your writing as a beacon for others to see His undeserved mercy. Peace and blessings to you.

For anyone who happens to read here or has known Brenda Lynn … Brenda has passed away some time ago. I only had the privilege of knowing her for about a year. She attended the Bible study I facilitate and shared sparingly and heartfelt about her struggles. She is missed. She wrote amazingly. She held tight to Jesus. I can’t wait to see her again one day.

Such a well written “About” I rewrote my “About” many times before I was satisfied with it. After reading yours, I’m wondering again. Does it say what it really needs to say? Hmmm. I might just be comparing. I do that! It’s not good, but I just want to say what needs to be said. Nice meeting you. I love poetry, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy reading your inspiring words. π

Mrs Viars, I was looking for you on Facebook as we haven’t talked in a long while. I then realized that you don’t have one but stumbled across your blog. I couldn’t help as I was reading but to think that I needed to read this. As I am about to begin my path after high school and into the military this has helped me think more deeply on the difficult road ahead and given me strength to remember to keep going no matter how hard it gets. Thank you, I miss you and I hope to get in touch soon, xoxo, Mercedes

I am both sorry for and give thanks for your past pain and darkness. It’s made you who you are, and one whom God has chosen to work through to share great beauty. I’m looking forward to reading more of your past work and sharing it on occasion.
A funny story about the piece of yours that I re-blogged this morning. My husband read it and wasn’t sure which of the words were yours and which were mine, since our voices are so similar…his words.
I give thanks that Our Lord has caused our paths to cross,

Dearest Ann, what a blessing to know that the Lord prompted you to think about me. I so appreciate your prayers. My husband and I have stepped out and made some big decisions which will be affecting our whole family, for which we need prayer. Also, God has been leading me since October last year to provide encouragement for families hit by disaster (see my other blog at http://boxesfromtheheart.net). Slowly, and step by step, He is making the provisions for that … I have seen Him lead and confirm this path in the most amazing ways! Thanks so much for your prayers and heart for a fellow sister π I will pray for you today too … how are you?

Moving into new seasons in our lives quite often is a bit scary but you have seen God confirming this for you and I think it is awesome π I will keep you in prayer for sure. I am at a weird place where the rug has sort of been pulled out from under me and kind of feel like I’m just hanging out there. I believe God is telling me to let go of a lot of old stuff but hasn’t really shown me which way to go and there’s not much room for standing still. I know He will keep me no matter what happens but sure wish He would give me a vision, a direction to move toward and at least one step to take π Ah, faith..such an exciting walk! Blessings to you, Heidi and to your family also!
