Upside Down

Published by

In His immeasurable kindness and unimaginable grace, God allows us to see His Light in our upside down lives. On our own, we lack the ability to see correctly. We look at our hardships and trials with a distorted view. We see through the lens of earthly comfort rather than allowing our Father to interpret them for us in light of eternal benefits.

On my walk this morning, as I poured my concerns from this groaning place, I noticed the dew. I was reminded of our lives often being compared to vapor and fading flowers of the field. They are short in span. I decided to capture the dew drops with my phone camera. When I checked the pictures later, I realized how the sun was reflected in the drops. It overwhelmed me.

His Light is worth my chasing. He is and will be worth it all.

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God _children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
John 1:9-13

For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Lovely as always, Heidi. I am struck by the smallness and fragility of those dewdrops. Yet look at the beauty God creates through the power of reflection. Without that phenomenon, they’d just be dots of water. We have little to offer also–until we start reflecting our Father’s glory. Those delightful little dewdrops inspire!

Thanks so much for your comment, Nancy! Yes! We, who have the Light, reflect Him. As we do, we become “a city on a hill” and “the salt of the earth”. And … He not only makes us look good, but also smell great!
“For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing,” 2 Corinthians 2:15 … many Christmas-blessings your way, friend

I love those dew drop pictures when they capture the whole world around them like a fish eye lens.
Sometimes God gives us way more than we thought…I’m quite sure I see upside down more than I care to admit.

I hear you … I had started out my walk lamenting (which our Father never turns down, by the way)… We see from such a finite place, through time, through beginning and endings. I was overwhelmed by the goodness of God in such a small mirror. Can you just imagine, Gary … when we get there??? No eye has seen and no ear has heard… Blessings, friend … keep shining!!!

David Dettinger and I were just talking about your post (which I took the liberty of reposting). I told David that you were a little bit more polished than me. The beauty of those pictures are amazing but that is exactly who our Father is. Thank you again.

Heidi, this is so beautiful, and your photos are stunning. We do need the Lord’s light to shine on our lives, on the circumstances we face, so we can see them with an accurate perspective. Thank for these truth-reminders.

God can be seen even in the smallest drop of dew on the grasses. What a great reminder. I need to continue to search, for He will be found. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. 🙂
    Hugs to you my friend!
