Something New
When I was walking through the woods this morning, I asked the Lord to show me something new.
Immediately, my gaze fell to this feather. I looked closer and saw how it was covered in dew.
My mind wandered …

When my time on this earth has ended for good
And I’ve flown on the wings the dawn,
When the grass can’t remember where I once stood
When my children and their’s have moved on,
May all that I left on this earth – everything –
Be remembered, but not for my name
May people recall the name of my King
Who is worthy of glory and fame.
May that which I leave in the dirt on the ground
Be covered in Christ’s endless grace
After taking my flight, may all that is found
Point home, to a glorious place.

Colossians 3:1
Thank you for this simple, but elegant and profound poem

This is so beautiful, Heidi. This especially touched my heart as it brings out the longings of my own heart:
“May all that I left on this earth – everything –
Be remembered, but not for my name
May people recall the name of my King
Who is worthy of glory and fame.”
Thank you so much! Love and blessings to you!

Sublime thought transposed into inspired word. Thank you, Heidi! You brought to mind my grandmother who graduated to heaven nearly fifty years ago. Yet her example lives on in my heart and influences who I am even after all this time. By her words and actions she consistently pointed us all toward our glorious King.
Now my grandchildren are benefiting from the imprint she left on my life; it’s my turn to point toward our glorious King!

Oh Nancy, what an incredible testimony. These are short years here … yet we treat them as if they are everything. They will fly by in no time and we must give an account thereafter. I have missed being here, spending time with my blog-friends … and especially being at your place and reading there … I will head out and stop by your blog today… I can’t wait to spend time with you and the wisdom God has given you! Blessings to you, my friend.

Dear Heidi, I am only passing through the Reader quickly today, getting ready for our small women’s prayer group in the morning, but praising the Lord for such beautiful thoughts of how He works to draw us to Himself, to pen HIs grace through us until that grace brings us to Him forever ~ a gracious breath to carry me through the rest of the day and night. Blessings.
