Right Now

When I was a teen
All skinny and smart
I wished for a man
With whom never to part.

I got a good man
And wished for a ring
For the vows to last
That to me he would cling.

He clung to my heart
We wished for a child
Six kids down the road
It got crazy and wild.

I wished for my house
To be neat and clean
Then kids moved out
Making wishes and dreams.

I am asking my self …

Why look for a time,
Either gone or ahead,
When God is right here …
And I could be dead?

This is the day that the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24 (ESV)

  1. Sweet Heidi, you make me smile! Being down the road a but further–with children long gone and grandchildren entering adulthood, facing health issues that can cloud my perceptions–I am grateful for your reminder “to rejoice and be glad” for the gift of this new day. Thank you, friend! 💝

  3. I praise the Lord again for sharing you with us. Here, now and forever, He is present, although we seem to miss Him sometimes in our busyness. A clean house is possible only if you live alone, unless then, you are unable to clean up after yourself. In time, the work of His grace brings everything together so to seem as a quiet river carrying us with Him where He has planned for us to go. I pray blessings as you enjoy those extra hearts in your presence ~ knowing you continue to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

    1. Dear Fran,
Yes!!!! I love the picture of a quiet river … though at the moment I feel more like I am hanging on to my hardhat getting flung through the rapids 🙂 How faithful He is … the Author and Finisher of our faith! Thanks for stopping in! Happy Fourth of July to you and your family!
