Your words are as endless as sand on a shore,
Strung together in books
And in blogs galore.
You speak them with vigor and zeal the same
As if you’re vying for spots
In Christendom’s fame
Your words sit on tables and nightstands – piled high
Proclaiming your wisdom
Your thoughts and advice.
I sometimes don’t know what you’re saying to me.
I don’t understand –
I don’t go that deep.
But what I know is this simple fact:
Your words matter little
It is how you act.
For your light shines brightest when your neighbor sees
What God is like
By Your conduct and deeds.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16
“Lord, continue to show me how to shine Your Light, namely Jesus Christ,
into this broken world.
Father, I need You to embolden me
so that in courage and surrender I may live for You.
Help me to speak of Your gentleness with my hands,
proclaim Your faithfulness in my service of others,
and make Your love known in my dutiful work.
Help not to complain about the menial opportunities
which point others to Your kindness.
Lord, let others not be interested in what I have to say,
but help me point them to what Your Word has already spoken.”
Help me not to make a name for myself,
but make Your name great.”
