Prisons of the Heart

IMG_1836

Down, deep below and far from light,

Exists a prison cell,

Where darkness rules, and pain and hurt

And unforgiveness  dwell.

*

Your unforgiveness locked the door

And now stands there to guard.

It trapped your pains of pasts inside

This prison of your heart.

*

The only way is Truth and Light,

Which sets all pris’ners free.

It’s found in Jesus Christ alone.

It’s He who holds the key.

*

Through His forgiveness of your sins,

He gives you grace to see,

That all along twas you, the guard,

Who’s bound and couldn’t flee.

*

So take with grace the gift He left –

Forgiveness take and give –

And with this set your pris’ners free,

In freedom now go live.

Luke 4:18

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives

and recovering of sight to the blind,

to set at liberty those who are oppressed

  2. I love anything written about His wonder, magnificent, undeserving grace. It humbles me and puts everything into prospective just as your beautiful poem did for me today. Thanks Heidi for sharing your gift with us. God’s abundant blessings to you.
