Words and Deeds (Faith that Works)

(I wrote this last year and was reminded of it again today. “Father, help us show YOU to a hurting world, not only in our words but so much more with our deeds.”

hold on my soul 010We  talked for hours

And blogged for days.

We read the books,

Researched and prayed.

*

We asked for wisdom

Looked for a cure

We prayed some more,

Thought our motives were pure.

*

Still the homeless are cold

And orphans die.

The old are lonely

And the fatherless cry.

*

Our words are futile

If deeds don’t come.

The Gospel speaks loud

When we start with one.

*

What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

James 2:14-16

Daisy, Isaiah 40;8

  3. Oh, Lord, remind me of Heidi’s powerful words, especially her conclusion: “The gospel speaks loud when we start with one.” May I take advantage of every opportunity to speak for you and act on your behalf, that your gospel might be proclaimed loudly to those around me.

    Thank you, Heidi!

            3. Wondering if you meant “you felt God!!!” as a rebuke?

            4. This was more to remind my own prideful heart, that all my efforts in prayer, though important, are only to point to the grace of God who is as work. I often think it’s my prayers that accomplish His work, when they are only the means to witness to His amazing grace. May God continue to give us both the power to point a lost world to the only cure, namely Jesus. Sending much love … and prayer, too 🙂

            5. Thank you for clarifying–Joseph Prince was speaking about the same thing last week, that it’s not our prayers, but the One Who Hears them.

  5. Dearest Heidi, I am so sorry for missing all of your posts … don’t know what happened; but my link for following your blog somehow went to ‘unfollow’ and because I hadn’t had any emails saying you had a new post for quite a while, I presumed you were taking a break from blogging. So sorry, I should have checked or emailed you at least. Praying all well in every area of your life. Missed you xxx
