Please, Rock the Boat!

Twenty months ago, I could not have imagined the outcome of a simple but heartfelt prayer. I had been desperately aware of a need for revival in and around me. I started to pray regularly, pleading with God to do the work.

At first, it felt as if God had allowed me to experience Him from the inside of a small vessel. Spiritually speaking, I was drifting on a beautifully calm and steady stream. His affirmations to my heart came consistently through His Word. Quiet whispers along my path filled my heart with His presence. He allowed me to see more and more of His beauty and lovingkindness. I felt a desperate need to spend extended time with Him on walks in the early morning and continued my pleading for more of the Holy Spirit.

Today, I find myself in the same boat, but instead of floating on a calm river, torrents of uncertainty try to take my confidence. He has called me to a task that is far beyond my ability and gifts. My vessel has become utterly insufficient. I am entirely ill-equipped and keenly aware of my need for His constant provisions. My boat is being rocked.

I believe this is part of the plan and His answer to my heart felt prayer months ago. He has revived me. My heart has been awakened to the desperate need for my Maker to do His work, to show me His paths, and to steady my heart with the knowledge of His presence, no matter the uncertainty of life. He calls us to do the impossible. If we dare to ask, He will awaken our hearts, not for a cozy trip down a lazy river, but rather to trust Him through the raging waves of His call.

Will not the God who calls us also equip us to do His work?


“Father, revive our souls.
Awaken us to your call.
Give us confidence that You provide all that is needed.
Help us to step out into the waters of uncertainty, without fear.
Teach us what it means to trust You completely,
Please, rock our boats!”

          I do know what you are talking about! At times God stirs something in the depth of our souls, a knowing that we need Him for what He is getting ready to do, a deep longing to do His work.
          Recently I read “Your Beautiful Purpose” by Susie Larson … God used her in my life to speak truth into some very scary places! Among many things, Susie teaches us to wait on God, not be bullied by our fears, and how to silence the enemy! Maybe it could be of help?
          God has created you with a very specific purpose and His works, which He prepared long ago. I am praying for you 🙂

            Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. God has me taught me over the last several years to hold onto Him, walk in faith, and expect the unexpected. He has told me “no fear” and I have to trust Him for everything. I know that I have found the Key to everything that this world presents… I just pray that many others will also!     “Will not the God who calls us also equip us to do His work?” you ask. Oh, yes! In fact, if we feel equipped within our natural abilities, God won’t be able to do His immeasurable work, above what we can ask or imagine. Think of what we’d miss! Thank you, Heidi, for this important message, for infusing us with hope and confidence that God has amazing plans for us, and will equip us to accomplish them!

    Hey Bennetta, we often think we could not possibly be the ones He calls to certain tasks … I love what 2 Corinthians 3:5 says… “Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God” (ESV) … Blessings to you, dear sister … as you recognize in all things that He is sufficient for you and the task at hand!

    Wow, this is great. I had a similar, yet probably not nearly as big/intense as you’re sharing, experience on Thursday–called to step out in faith and be present as His representative. At first I was anxious, telling Him, “I’m not equipped, anointed–I can’t do this!” But throughout the 24-hr period preceding the actual opportunity, He reminded and reassured me of what you said here–that if He calls us to a task, surely He will equip us. And I had the prayer support and encouragement of 2 strong believers, so I was ready and raring to go! Nothing dramatic happened as a result, but it was a victory for me–built up my confidence in Him, that as I eagerly obey and step out, He’ll supply all the provision. Praise His Name, Jesus.     Amen Heidi! This is so powerful. Our God does answer our prayers, and He rocks our boat so that we will grow stronger in Him, so that we will learn to lean on Him and trust in Him. I praise God for your faithful prayers, because they not only impact you and the lives of those close to you, but who knows how many other lives are impacted by your prayers for revival?

    Will those prayers impact the lives of those readers who follow your posts? Will they impact the lives that your followers come in contact with? Will they effect future generations? And let’s not forget about the heavenly battles that wage on as good wages war with evil. It is entirely probable that your prayers effect the results of those battles as well.

    I believe this post is a war cry that we as believers must respond to! God bless you for praying and for this post, my beloved sister!

    Heidi, this is an exiting post that proves an old quote, “To pray is to change.” Good on you for praying and being submitted to his power and will.

    Just as I was about to read this post I had a phone call asking me to do something outside my comfort zone. The timing shows me that it is an answer to my own prayer for his will to be done in my life…
